PolySeed®

The Original Commercial BOD Seed Since 1976 
Introduced in 1976 by PolyBac Corporation, the PolySeed® product line by InterLab® was the original commercial BOD seed. PolySeed® helped establish the use of commercial BOD seed in environmental laboratories and quickly became an industry standard.

 In 1982, the U.S. EPA identified PolyBac Corporation in its guidance on commercially available lyophilized bacteria for BOD seed and stated that use of this type of material is not considered a method variance under approved BOD methodology.

 Nearly 50 years later, PolySeed® and PolySeed NX® continue to provide laboratories with standardized, ready-to-use microbial seed for EPA and Standard Methods BOD₅ and CBOD₅ testing. PolySeed® is designed for standard BOD₅ analysis, while PolySeed NX® incorporates a nitrification inhibitor for convenient CBOD₅ testing.
